The Department of Defense (DoD)'s Automated Biometrics Identification System (ABIS)

I3 provides the operational and technical support, software and hardware maintenance, database management, system engineering, Information Technology (IT) and assurance support, data archiving and program management expertise for the existing Department of Defense (DoD) Automated Biometrics Identification System (ABIS) system.

I3 currently has 107 full-time employees supporting the Biometrics Identity Management Agency (BIMA) on the Technology Management task order. I3 provides project management, IT skillsets unique to a multi-modal biometric database, military and client liaison personnel, and all Biometric Examination Services (BES) personnel. We also support ongoing Military Operations (MilOps) 24x7x365.

I3 provides the Operations and User-level Maintenance (O&UM) support for the ABIS, with the capacity to handle 12,000 biometric tenprint submissions and 400 latent fingerprint submissions per day. Personnel provide examination support for tenprint adjudication, latent fingerprint examination and comparison, palm print comparison and facial recognition. They process, compare and render final decisions on fingerprints, palm prints and face photographs from forensic evidence exploited from sites around the world; the evidence is submitted by Department of Justice (DoJ), DoD and international partners. Our Biometric Examiners manually identify fingerprint matches or non-matches that the ABIS fails to resolve conclusively. Our Latent Print Examiners encode; launch searches; and analyze, compare and examine candidate prints.
